Club Stalwarts Ian Somerville and Tom Yuill Receive Honorary Vice President Awards from Club President for their exemplary service to the Club.

Club Stalwarts Ian Somerville and Tom Yuill received Honorary Vice President Awards from Club President Jeremy Pemberton-Pigott this week for their long service and outstanding contribution to Strathendrick Rugby Club and the life of its members.

For many years Tom Yuill wrote up the weekly 1st XV games report ensuring that it would appear in the local newspaper on a weekly basis for everybody to read. In addition, more recently he kept the scoreboard ticking over on match days and also kept accurate records of the all the match scores and scorers for each season for club archives.

Iain Somerville has been involved in nearly all aspects of the club over decades. Originally Ian was a player with Strathendrick RFC – a 2nd row, we believe. Always a Club supporter and stalwart, when his children were of an age to join the Minis, Iain took on the role of Minis’ Convenor – organising fixtures, hospitality, transport etc. This fantastic foundation he established, laid the pathway that others that have followed to make both the minis and the midis at Strathendrick the success that they are today. Despite his own offspring moving on from the club, Iain continued in his role for many more years.

Iain also founded the annual, end of season, Strathendrick Minis’ Charity Tournament – and ran it superbly for nearly a decade raising thousands of pounds for Strathcarron Hospice and a number other important rugby charities in the process.

We thank both Iain and Tom's important contribution to our Club and recognise their efforts by making them both Honorary Vice Presidents of Strathendrick RFC
