Strathendrick Rugby Club would like to congratulate Mikey Heron on the news that he has been awarded a semi professional rugby contract with Super 6 side Stirling County.

Mikey a former pupil at Balfron High School developed his rugby in his early years through the Endrick minis and midis programme. After successfully being selected for the Glasgow Warriors U18's VS Edinburgh (East Vs West) a few years ago, Mikey was then selected for the John McPhail Scholarship to train for 6 months in South Africa. Previous recipients include a string of Scotland international players including Finn Russell. The COVID crisis cut short Mikey's South Africa experience, an unfortunate turn of events that halted the progress of a number of talented young Scottish players. It is excellent to see Mikey's rugby potential back on track with this excellent news.

The Super 6 with be running a Sprint Series from April which will also include a team from both Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby. Mikey will get an opportunity to play against the very best rugby players within the Scottish game within this series.
