The 2026/27 season for the U18s kicked off with a friendly game away to Lomond and Helensburgh RFC. A fixture with lots of history, passion and competition was billed as an opportunity to blood new players and put into practise recent training instructions.
We were delighted with how the boys played and applied their recent learning, with some exceptional moments throughout the game. Naturally there was the expected rustiness that usually comes with pre-season fixtures, along with a couple of things to work on in training this week. Stand out moments including pacy runs from Jack McVicar and a driving foray from Luke Watson, ably supported with a champagne offload to Freddy Dawes. John Winther was imperious in the lineout and Cal Murray a brick wall in defence.

We were delighted to have our new team sponsor Charlie Bateman from Alt Energy on the touchline, who named Archie Horsburgh as Player of the Match.
