The second round of the u16 girls National Cup continued yesterday at Ruth Menzies Field in Fintry. The girls hosted long-term friends from Dunbar RFC. In typical Scottish fashion, the heavens closed over and unleashed an afternoon of wet conditions. Under difficult weather conditions, both teams put in a solid shift. The Endrick girls got off to a quick start putting the first points on the board. With confidence building, the girls continued to push their attacking play working into wide channels and pushing through the middle. The defence was strong and held out against a very tough forward attacking play from the Dunbar side. The girls took the day and everyone quickly returned indoors for a warm soup and hot roll.
A big thanks to the Dunbar girls for coming across to Fintry for the fixture. Thanks also to Mike Bastock for capturing all of the excitement on camera and to the amazing supporters, who braved the awful weather to cheer on the girls. The match was expertly managed by Brian Thomson from the West Referee Society.
The girls will continue in the National Cup to round 3 and await their next opponents.
