The u16 girls travelled to Inchmacoble Park, Forfar to play the first fixture of the season against a well organised Strathie Sharks side. The game started with back and forth attacking play before the girls broke through a strong Sharks defense to put Endrick up 7-0. For the next 15 minutes, it was a physical match with both Endrick and Strathie putting in a try each after some strong defensive play. After 20 minutes of play, Endrick were up 19-7.
The Sharks adjusted their game play and included a very effective kicking strategy putting a couple tries on the board using a well-timed grubber kick and a bomb kick. However, the Endrick girls maintained a strong attack play moving forward at pace and put two more tries on the board - after 40 minutes, the girls were feeling confident with a 45-21 score.
The endurance and stamina of the solid 13 Endrick girls was starting to show in the last 20 minutes. A few errors and quick play from the Sharks move the score close, 45-42 with only a few minutes left in the game. Yet the grit and determination of the girls never faded and they dug deep in the final minutes to put another 10 points on the board. A well deserved win that challenged their fitness, mental endurance and ended with bringing a strong united team finish.
