Xander Jewell scored the opening try after just 3 minutes putting the boys quickly on the front foot. With a a strong structure in place, Endrick found themselves pressing for more points. Jamie Gordon scoring after 8 mins followed by Isaac Keenan at 20 mins in, put Endrick in the lead by 19-0.
The boys from Fintry did not have it all their own way and the opposition challenged them with some very strong play. However the theme for this match was “No one gets through the middle” and that’s exactly what the boys did.
After sustained pressure from Stewart’s Melville a score of 19-5 was recorded. With a try right in the corner. The first half ended with confidence high from Stewart’s Melville, resulting in a line break but the Endrick boys would not give in. Some fantastic cover tackles by Arran Todd, Ruan Nicholl and Gregor Moir ensured the score remained at 19-5.
Second half started with opposition trying to break the Endrick line but defence was strong. Deep in their own 22, Endrick managed to exit with some fine rugby and released Isaac Keenan to run 3/4 of the pitch to score under the posts.
Stewart’s Melville managed to hit back and score again in the corner (26-12). Tenacious Endrick tackling proved to be too much for our opponents today with Endrick running in a further 3 tries (Murray Stewart, Tiger Durrant and Sam Wallace). Final score was 41-12. Well done boys.
Collectively a fantastic performance, with many contenders for the Man of the Match. However with some tireless defending and some great ball carrying, Pearse McNickle was today’s MOTM.
