A Sunday afternoon of wonderful sunshine helped the club to host another excellent U12/U14 Girls rugby festival down at Ruth Menzies pitches.

15 rugby clubs were in attendance (see below) which is a remarkable number and a testament to the wide interest in girls rugby from across Scotland. The large attendance is a significant recognition for the Strathendrick RFC community and the strength of the girls rugby program.

The teams were split into four geographical regions based on ancient Scottish regions (Dalriada, Caledonia, Strathclyde and Strathendrick) to compete in a series of round robin fixtures. The tackles were fierce and the tries well deserved.

As the year has progressed, the quality of defence has significantly improved with consequences for attacking structure and offensive skill sets continually being challenged. Due to the ever increasing lack of sunlight, the pitches quickly became consumed in darkness and forced an end to the rugby fun.

A very positive way to end the year for the girls hosting in Fintry.

Thanks to the players and coaches from Dalriada (ie Mid-Argyll RFC, Oban RFC, Islay RFC, Bishopton), Caledonia (ie McLaren RFC, Strathmore RFC, Aberfeldy RFC, Montrose RFC) and Strathclyde (ie Allan Glen RFC, Lenzie RFC, Whitecraigs RFC, Paisley RFC, Cartha Queens RFC, Clydebank RFC and Wayside Drumpellier RFC) for coming along to the festival.

Also a special thanks to club superman Nick Hawkins for being the top class referee!
