Strathendrick ladies touch team took to the Astro to meet McLaren in a friendly game under the floodlights. The excitement of playing another team was in the air until the visiting side showed their pace quickly in the opening minutes. There was some confusion about the rules, which led to some quick tries from the visitors, however after a quick team talk from coach James the Strathendrick side began to gather themselves and Nicole brought us back in it with two tries. Our defence improved significantly with the calls of “push up” echoing around the pitches.
Lots to learn from the visiting side with some classy 2v1s and pin point accurate passing. As the game went on our defensive pressure started to encourage a few mistakes from the McLaren team and Amy flew in with a diving try. The score was not on our side, but several of the visitors were “just back from the touch World Cup”!
Congratulations to everyone who played, we had lots of fun, and have lots of ideas for our next game!
