Amy and Kirsty made the long journey up to Ullapool on Friday and braved the choppy sea over to Stornoway to join with Aberfeldy and Blairgowrie to play their first league game of the season. The weather was on our side and the Aberfeldy/Strathendrick/Blairgowrie squad put some early pressure on the home side with a brilliant team try. Play was even and both sides were kept under pressure throughout the game. The home team (bolstered by Blairgowrie players) came back with their own try and it remained equal for some time until the travelling side upped the challenge, stole the ball and their captain crashed through to score the winning try which was quickly converted.
A brilliant game and a brilliant example of camaraderie. Women supporting women to ensure this important event for Stornoway women could go ahead.
Amy and Kirsty played a huge part in the success of the team. They ran hard lines, were relentless in defence and offered consistent support to their team mates.
A proud moment for Stornoway women fully shared by Strathendrick women.
